In which bereft city citizens curse cruel Kaikēyī, envy LakṣmaṆa and blest pools, and lament like men facing death
Citizens turn back lifeless without Rāma — Households weep with tear-veiled faces — Markets close and kitchens cook no food — Mothers take no joy in firstborn or wealth — Wives reproach husbands and praise LakṣmaṆa — Envy blest rivers pools forests Rāma will grace — Long to follow Rāma shade and serve Sītā — Curse kin-destroying Kaikēyī and refuse her rule — Foretell Daśaratha death and ruin after him — Lament falsely exiled Rāma like men facing death
